Vapor intrusion is the migration of volatile chemicals from the subsurface into overlying structures. This often occurs when volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that have been released to soils and groundwater volatilize and migrate through the soil and find their way through building foundations and into the interior airspaces. The resulting vapor intrusion can lead to occupant exposure to these VOCs.
O’Rourke installs and maintains soil vapor extraction and sub-slab depressurization systems to prevent chemical soil vapor from entering occupied buildings. We specialize in the installation of custom designed large scale commercial and industrial vapor mitigation systems but can efficiently install smaller scale soil vapor or radon systems as well.
We also assist design engineers with pilot studies by providing temporary extraction points, vapor monitoring pins, temporary piping and blowers.
